Blue Bell

Blue Bell

Affluent and historic community with a peaceful atmosphere.

Welcome to Blue Bell

Blue Bell is a quiet Pennsylvania community in a wonderful location, around 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia’s Center City. This historic suburban town is named for the Blue Bell Inn, an establishment that was built in 1743 and often visited by George Washington.

Along with proximity to Philadelphia, affluent Blue Bell’s thriving economy includes the local headquarters of global technology companies such as Unisys and UniTek Global Services.

The community is popular with young families thanks to its peaceful residential atmosphere and the award-winning Wissahickon School District. Real estate within Blue Bell includes lavish historic and contemporary multi-million dollar mansions on acreage estates exhibiting exquisite classical design. Blue Bell also has a variety of recently-built single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums.

Blue Bell’s namesake Blue Bell Inn serves modern American-style steaks, seafood, and a decadent Sunday brunch menu in a classic setting steeped in history. George Washington and his troops retreated to the area surrounding modern-day Blue Bell during the American Revolutionary War and frequently visited the inn.

Nearby Panache serves delectable Italian dishes, including signature wood-fired pizzas. More shops, restaurants, and local services can be found at the Center Square Commons and Center Square Shopping Center in the heart of Blue Bell. In addition, the community is within easy reach of numerous shopping centers located in adjacent communities, as well as the many independent shops, restaurants, art galleries, and cultural venues of nearby Downtown Ambler.

This refined community also boasts outstanding golf courses and country clubs. Bluestone Country Club was established in 1949 and offers members-only facilities, including a swimming pool, stables, tennis courts, and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Bill and David Gordon. Facilities at Blue Bell Country Club include Arnie’s restaurant and sports bar, tennis courts with lessons available for all ages and experience levels, and an 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course.

Throughout September and October, the towns throughout Montgomery County host a great variety of family-friendly fall festivals. These activities include Blue Bell’s Whitpain Festival, which brings live music, fireworks, art vendors, and a beer garden to the campus of Montgomery Community College. The Hayrides at Prophecy Creek Park event is a popular fall tradition that combines old-fashioned wagon rides with spooky stories and a nighttime bonfire. First Fridays in Downtown Ambler features a children’s activity zone, live music performances, art exhibitions, food vendors, and complimentary wine and cheese.

Blue Bell has plenty to offer in terms of nature. The sports complex at Center Square Park includes seven sports fields, walking trails, and a dog park, and Prophecy Creek Park at Blue Bell’s southwestern corner has beautiful rolling meadows, ponds, and an elegant Manor House available for weddings and other private events.

Public schools within Blue Bell are provided by Wissahickon School District, one of the best-performing school districts in Pennsylvania.
