When we tried to sell our condo at that time, we failed and became an unwitting landlord and landlady. We tried again twice over the years and each time failed to sell, instead of getting a new renter. But this time, we lucked out. Jamie immediately suggested a number of upgrades to the house, including replacing the carpet with vinyl flooring (except the bedroom which got new carpet), painting the walls with a specific color that she recommended for making the condo more attractive, and replacing the countertops with granite. After we got that done, she recommended we stage the condo with furniture to make it easier for prospective buyers to imagine. This was a lot of work, but we had faith in her strategy. It paid off massively. Not only did we list at a price higher than we paid for it (we thought we would have to go lower), but we got a buyer in three days. So not only were we able to finally let go of that condo after nearly nine years, but we were able to use the money from it to accomplish some important financial goals for our family.
